Suffolk By-Pass 
Come December 2002 traffic congestion around the City of Suffolk will be significantly improved with the completion of the new Suffolk Bypass between Route 58 and Routes 13/32. TCC was awarded this $35,000,000.00 project in April 2000 and progress to date is running ahead of VDOT’s required completion of January 2003.
The project consists of the construction 13 bridges, 1 box culvert and 2.7 miles of limited access highway. TSI as General Contractor is constructing 10 of the 13 scheduled bridges including B606 and B607, two 1000-ft. bridges over Lake Kilby. Earthwork, paving, utilities and electrical work is subcontracted.
The construction involves 25,000 LF 18” precast concrete piles, 70,000 LF 12” precast and pipe piles, 1 million cy of fill dirt, 10,000 cy concrete, 1500T structural steel, 60,000T asphalt, a temporary construction causeway across Lake Kilby and the creation of a 12 acre mitigation site.
