This project consisted of two contracts; the scope of work included widening and rehabilitation of the interstate, which included eight bridges, and approximately fifteen lane miles of roadway.  Strict enforcement of existing traffic safety measures, new safety standards for construction access, and travel along the interstate was implemented to maintain safe working conditions.  The partnering relationship between Tidewater Skanska, VDOT and the City of Norfolk paid off with a quality project completed ahead of schedule.

The second portion of the contract scope included demolition and replacement of the heavily traveled Military Highway Bridges over I-264 while maintaining three lanes of traffic in each direction on I-264 and two lanes in each direction on Military Highway.  Two additional parallel bridges over Curlew Drive and the Norfolk Southern Railroad were included.  The last phase of construction was the realignment of I-264 and five miles of HOV lanes.  Tidewater Skanska completed this project considerably ahead of schedule.
