Harvard Biological Research Infrastructure Facility
Harvard Biological Research Infrastructure Facility
Brief Overview
The Biology Research Infrastructure (BRI) is a two-level, underground laboratory located below the courtyard of and accessible through the Biological Laboratories (Bio Labs). It is 75,000 gross square feet and replaces existing facilities the Bio Labs.
The BRI has been designed as state-of-the-art laboratory space for research on mice. In the new BRI, Harvard faculty in the Molecular and Cellular Biology department will continue their research to advance the understanding of how animals develop, function, and combat disease. Much of this work involves genetic studies, wherein the health or behavior of animals is assessed in the presence or absence of different genes. These studies provide a foundation for improving the health and well being of humans and other animals.
