The Reading Hospital & Medical Center

Brief Overview

Reading-Blue-Bell-OfficeThe project consisted of a 340,000 square feet, seven-story clinical care building which is connected to the existing “C” and “R” Buildings.  This new facility houses emergency care units, cancer services, cardiology services, patient care units and MICU and SICU units.  Other portions of the project include:

Two-story corridor link to the Fifth
        Avenue Garage Addition
      New vehicular entrance into the
        existing Fifth Avenue Garage
      New Emergency Walk-in and
        Ambulance Entry Drives
      Construction of a landscaped
        Healing Garden
      Modifications to the existing
        Doctor’s Parking Lot

The construction of the “N” Building was a challenging project since the work was phased to ensure minimal disruption to adjoining spaces in the existing “C” and “R” Buildings.

Skanska also renovated the existing central utilities plant (CUP) and the expansion of the parking garage.  The renovation and expansion of the central utilities plant was performed in phases to maintain continued operation and service of the essential utilities for the hospital.  Also included in the scope was the construction of a four-level, 400-car precast parking garage addition and the construction of a new access drive and service drive.
