Chippenham Medical Center
Chippenham Medical Center
Brief Overview
The Chippenham Medical Center addition and renovation project consisted of the construction of the new Levinson Heart Hospital and the renovation of several areas of the existing hospital.
The Levinson Heart Hospital is a five-story, 22-bed, freestanding addition to the Chippenham Medical Center, dedicated solely to the treatment of patients with heart disease. It houses a cardiac surgery suite with four open heart operating rooms (with capability of future expansion of two additional rooms), a cardiac surgery intensive care unit and a cardiac progressive care unit with telemetry beds, an emergency department including critical care/cardiac emergency beds and a chest pain observation unit, cath lab prep and recovery, two floors of shell space and main entrance and registration area. A large conference center and office space for physicians added two levels to this pavilion.
The renovation portions of the project included: new operating rooms, renovation to the day surgery and emergency departments, four new cath labs and a new cysto room. In addition, several areas of the existing surgery department support areas received finish upgrades as part of this project. This project also included a façade renovation, which added new windows, curtainwall and metal panel systems to the exterior of the existing hospital façade. The existing hospital three-level parking deck was expanded with two new levels added to the top of the existing parking structure.
