Business ethics

Based on periodic research by the Transparency International anti-corruption group, the construction sector has one of the lowest ethical ratings in industry. This presents a constant challenge for Skanska. In 2002 we published our Code of Conduct and in 2003 a separate Compliance Guidelines was produced to support Code of Conduct implementation. 

As a member of the Engineering & Construction group within the World Economic Forum in 2004, Skanska was a founder of the “Partnership Against Corruption” initiative (known as the PACI Principles). The President of Skanska chaired the E&C group during 2006.

During 2006, a team of High Potential Employees conducted a review of Business Ethics implementation in every Skanska Business Unit and reported its findings to the Senior Executive Team.

A revised version of the Code of Conduct will be published in early 2008 and the Compliance Guidelines will be updated in the first half of 2008.
