Local impacts

Construction is essentially a local activity. Therefore, it is vitally important to have sound controls in place to manage common issues such as dust, noise, run-off, light pollution, hydrocarbon contamination and increased transport.

Incidents can result in unnecessary nuisance for local stakeholders. Sustained poor performance can damage or even cancel our “License to Operate.” Sustained good performance can enhance our reputation and License to Operate. The UK Considerate Contractors Scheme is a good example of the latter.
